  FAQs

Is your CHDIR Center for profit or nonprofit?

The CHDIR is a nonprofit section of the Institute for Health Research , the research and development unit of Kaiser Permanente, Colorado. We are part of a 501(c) (3) corporation (Kaiser Permanente) and conduct research in the public interest.

Do you contract for evaluations or consulting?

Yes, CHDIR does provide a limited amount of consulting, technical assistance, and subcontracting services. These generally fall under the content areas described in Areas of Emphasis section of the website and involve one or more of:

-literature reviews to answer a focused question related to dissemination or implementation
-partnership on research grants to study translation questions
-technical assistance or consulting in the application of dissemination or evaluation techniques
-cost or economic analysis or simulations

How do I find out more about specifics and costs of the above CHDIR services?

Contact the person listed on the Areas of Emphasis page as the lead for the particular content area or service in which you are interested. If you are unsure or your request cuts across areas, contact Barbara.McCray@kp.org 303-614-1362, our administrative assistant, and she will connect you with the appropriate person(s).

Financial aspects of collaborating with the CHDIR are coordinated by Sarah.Madrid@kp.org, 303-614-1358. Please direct any questions regarding budgeting, grant preparation, or contracting to her.  The CHDIR charges indirect costs at the rate of 55% of total salaries and benefits on all collaborations. For us to generate a cost estimate, please provide an outline of the specific tasks/deliverables, a time frame of the project, and the anticipated source of funding.

Does the CHDIR only work with Kaiser Permanente or other managed care organizations?

No- The CHDIR research interests cover a wide range of settings and health related topics. We have collaborated with a variety of governmental, community and business organizations including PBRNs and community health centers.

We do have unique relationships with several organizations within the HMO Research Network, as well as the Cancer Research Network, and a few services are available without cost to other Kaiser entities due to internal funding sources, but our vision is broad and our work focuses on projects within and outside of Kaiser Permanente.
